Party FAQ

Cons have a long history of hearty nightlife and extensive parties. In ancient times, guests would don armor, sharpen steel, and bid loved ones adieu before heading to the plains of bloody combat. Today we don costumes, inflate balloons, and welcome loved ones as they arrive.

Ok!  What is the lineup of parties for this year?

We'll be posting announcements for the various hospitality events on our Facebook page.  Parties are often the last thing to get announced each year, as the hosts have a lot of coordinating to do first.  Suffice to say for now that we always make sure there's a great party scene lined up for each night.

I wanna host a party!  How do I sign up?

All right!  There are things you need to keep in mind. First off, all parties must take place in our designated party area. If you do not contact our Hospitality Director and let him know you’re interested in hosting, you may not end up eligible to participate. You’re not required to throw a party in the party area, but if you forget to ask for placement there, you won’t even have the option.

Secondly, although we are excited to have you involved, we cannot assume responsibility for what you do in your room. Incidentals will be your responsibility, so decorate wisely. If you break hotel policies, your party may be shut down. If you become too loud or disruptive, we will shut you down if they don’t. We’re here to have a good time, not return to our neanderthal roots. There will be people from various walks of life attending your bash, and you’d be clever to appeal to all of them.

Can I attend parties if I’m not 21?

You can attend our under-21 parties and enjoy many other events, but some party areas will be 21+, and you absolutely cannot enter those. We'll be checking IDs for all of our guests in these areas.  We're very sorry, but if you are not legally allowed to drink, we simply cannot let you in there.  It would get us in trouble.  So please don't even try to enter.  Trying to get us in trouble will only get you in trouble.

Parties at Play On Con

Parties have their own department at Play On Con (Hospitality), and it represents 1/3 of the con's total lineup.  This includes:

  1. Provisions for parties in every hotel contract we sign.
  2. Dedicated space for parties, with all room numbers personally assigned by the Hospitality Director.
  3. A party support staff, including security personnel to check IDs, operations assistants to help refill ice, etc.
  4. Coordination to ensure every night has a successful party scene.
